Bavarian Club Almenrausch
Syracuse, New York

Our Purpose
The Bavarian Club Almenrausch was founded in 1972 for the purpose of preserving and perpetuating Bavarian customs, Tracht (costumes), Schuhplatteln (traditional Bavarian shoe slapping dances), folk dances, and establishing mutual fellowship.

We are proud to be a member of the Gauverband Nordamerika, the umbrella organization which co-ordinates and encourages German dancing and costume traditions in the United States and Canada. About seventy Vereine (dance clubs, like ours) belong to this organization, and throughout the year we participate in events held by Vereine in New York, neighboring states, and Canada.

BavarianFest
Each first Sunday of August, we sponsor our BavarianFest on the beautiful forested grounds of Longbranch Park on the north shore of Onondaga Lake. This event is filled with great live music, dancing, terrific German food and drink, Schuhplattler and folk dance performances, and plenty of Gemütlichkeit!

Our Membership
Individuals, couples, and families are all welcome in our membership. We perform a variety of Schuhplattler and folk dances that allow participation for just about anyone.

We also have a non-dancing membership status for those who may not wish to dance, but would like to participate in the various activities and functions of the club.
